Join us for lunch, dinner, or a drink at Grand Café 1834. Located in Tjaarda, near Heerenveen. On our changing menu, you will find dishes with character, with a Frisian touch here and there. Have you already tasted the classic, the 1834 hamburger? You really must not miss it.

How It All Began

In March 2016, the doors of our new Grand Café 1834 were opened. The new name of our grand café comes from the rich history of Tjaarda. In 1834, the hotel ‘Heidewoud’ was founded by innkeeper and gardener Johan Meijer. In 1877, the hotel was taken over by the Tjaarda family. Grand Café 1834 is a tribute to this rich history where we hope to add many more special years.

Opening Hours

Grand Café 1834 is open from 09:00, the kitchen for lunch opens at 12:00 until 17:00. From 17:00 we serve from our dinner menu. The kitchen is open until 21:30.
