Food and drink full of character

March 2016 saw the opening of our new Grand Café 1834. The new name of our Grand Café stems from the rich history of Tjaarda. In 1834, the ‘Heidewoud’ hotel was opened by landlord and gardener Johan Meijer. In 1877, the hotel was acquired by the Tjaarda family.

The excellent food, the delicious coffee and the welcoming service makes this the ideal place to meet friends, business associates or family. All of this is against the backdrop of the majestic forests of Oranjewoud, whilst sitting on an enormous terrace that captures every ray of sun. In short, a welcoming place where you enjoy relaxing.

Bar 1834

Our Bar 1834 is also great for drinks with friends. The nicely furnished trendy bar has comfortable seating, a TV and six seasonal beers on tap. It is the ideal place for an informal meeting after a hard day at work, or to enjoy relaxing drinks with friends, whether you fancy a cup of coffee, drinks from the bar, elaborate lunch or evening meal. We welcome everyone, hotel guest or passer-by every day from 10.00 until 01.00 hours!
